The rise of green buildings

At present, the construction industry consumes 30% of the world's final energy, and has great potential for energy conservation. With the increasing demand for sustainable construction, the benefits of green construction continue to emerge, and they are favored in the global construction market.

China is making great efforts to improve the sustainability of buildings. China’s 13th Five-Year Plan for Energy Efficiency in Buildings and the Development of Green Buildings requires that 50% of new urban buildings must be certified as green buildings. Already, 90% of Chinese commercial building owners plan to build at least one building with zero or near zero energy consumption in the next 10 years.

The EU is also continuing its efforts in this area. Reducing the energy consumption of buildings has a decisive effect on the EU’s fulfillment of its commitments under the Paris Agreement and is the main focus of its Clean Energy Plan.
