ICSG: World refined copper continues to be in short supply
According to MiningWeekly, according to the latest statistics released by the International Copper Research Team (ICSG), the output of world's copper mines fell by 2.6% year-on-year in the first 10 months of 2017, with the output of concentrate copper dropping by 2.2% and that of solvent extraction-copper electrode dropping by 4.3 %.
Regionally, copper production in the African mines fell 1%, in the Americas 3%, in Asia 4%, in Oceania 3%, but in Europe (including Russia) by 2%.
Copper production in Chile, the world's largest copper producer, fell 2% due to a strike at the Escondida mine and a decline in production at National Copper Company.
